So you may have read part one I posted some months ago, Getting my sexy back. I meant to do this update a while back but I had to take some time off from blogging, do to vacations, family, and other things keeping me busy.
My husband and I started our weight loss competition in June and the finish date was in September just prior to our vacation to Mexico. So we had three months to take back our lives and get to where we wanted. We worked hard each and everyday, from making a lifestyle change to clean eating (no not dieting, I hate that word) to exercising at least 5 days a week.
I know this sounds hard and impossible, but I honestly I had the same attitude for years never being able to get those last stubborn pounds off after having my son. I am happy to report though we were very successful, both of us! I truly believe its because we did it together. The competition became more than just wining it became a lifestyle for us, we felt better and it was something we enjoyed doing together. We were each others cheerleaders, which makes all the difference especially in those times when you plateau (which you will so don’t give up).
I am happy to report we did an amazing job, and my husband blew us all out of the water! He lost 35lbs in 3 months. He weighs less now than he did 10 years ago when we got married, I am so proud of him. I lost 16 1/2lbs in the 3 months, which I did not hit my goal I was about 5 pounds off. I am so proud of myself though and am extremely happy with my results not only physically but mentally.
So for anyone feeling likes its hopeless, don’t give up. I plateaued for nearly a month even though I was clean eating and working out 5-6 days a week. I am not going to lie there were days I felt discourage and thought I should give up since I wasn’t getting anywhere. But I realized I wasn’t just doing it for the weight loss anymore, I was doing it because I felt better. It’s amazing the power of food, I didn’t feel bloated or gross from what I ate, I have more energy. Those benefits alone trump the weight loss.
We had our cheat days too, so don’t feel you have to deprive yourself of everything you love. My cheat days mostly consisted of drinking wine. I thought giving up sweets would be brutal but it was my wine I wanted more than anything, and made me a bit of a crazy lady.
We have had a few vacations right in a row so we have had a lot of cheat days lately, so this week it’s time to get back to normal and get back to exercising. I still plan to hit my goal, and not because I am obsessed with getting thin. It’s for myself and how great I feel mentally for coming so far.
So don’t be afraid to get your sexy back, and that doesn’t mean you need to be the skinniest it means you need to be happy with you and just feeling good about yourself.
Glad to be back,
